Our day at Malolotja game reserve (January 5)

Oh gosh, where do we start? Had a lovely day at Malalotja game reserve. Rita (Finland), Nono (Swaziland), Marius (Netherlands) and Juan (Argentina) formed the first group to go patrolling with the rangers for trespassers. We began the 8km hike at Ngwenya Old Mine at around 8am. While on the way we saw some animals like zebras, bushbucks, blesboks, a cobra, wildbeasts just to name a few. We then spent an hour at the observation point which is the highest poaching area, then furthered off to the “stadium”, where all types of animals are found. The view from the mountains was stunning, together with the flowers. We did find trespassers’ footprints but unfortunately didn’t find them, but found a stray dog, which was shot down by the rangers. The weather had really changed to be cold as we waited for the pick up truck. The other group, Sindy (Swaziland), Simone (South Africa), Luka (Croatia), Selin (Turkey), Giacomo (Italy) went to the forest bush to cut fire wood for an orphanage. All in all our day was fun filled and out of this earth. Oh by the way almost forgot, in the end we had wonderful pasta specially made by our own Italian chef Giacomo.
