Day 2

Hello there… I am Catherine Ballali, currently a second year student studying at the UWC in Maastricht, Netherlands. I am originally from Tanzania, and I have lived in Dar es Salaam for the last 17 years. I am a junior facilitator for “Together for Development”, which is officially kicking off tomorrow J. I arrived here in UWC Waterford Kamhlaba, Mbabane 6 days ago (I know, too much excitement). After spending four days on campus with other awesome facilitators (Marius, Josh and Sofia) it was really exciting to see new faces and having our team complete on the 26th.

Today was the second prep day. The day kicked off with breakfast at around 8 (yes I had to wake up that early). After having breakfast we all headed to the MPHI theater where we enjoyed “riding on horses” - going under hurdles, swinging to the left, then right…the joy of morning fun led by Josh to get us all ready for the day – body, mind and spirit.

After the morning fun, the team workshops commenced. The workshops involved learning about different facilitation methods, and later on, space was filled with heated conversations on topics ranging gender to New Years’ plans.

As the night grew nearer, some facilitators continued discussions while others headed off to the kitchen to prepare the evening meal. Thanks to their cooking expertise we were all able to have an amazing dinner: Indian oriented chicken curry with Swazi-inspired pap and of course lots of laughter in between. On a scale of 1-10 I will give it a 9, as the day was productive and I feel we were able to move a step forward to bring the pieces of the Short Course puzzle togther. 1 point goes to the rain for having fallen so hard throughout the day leaving us no time to sun bath J!!!!!!
